Your latency to this site is measuring live below. But raw speed isn't what makes games lag: ping stability, packet loss and bufferbloat are — and the full test measures all of them, including the bufferbloat grade most speed tests skip.

Bufferbloat deserves the explanation: on many routers, any big download (a patch, someone streaming 4K) fills the router's buffers and your ping quietly triples. Speed looks great, games stutter anyway. Our full test floods your link deliberately and grades how badly your latency degrades — if you get a D, the fix is Smart Queue Management (SQM/QoS) on the router, not a faster plan.
Because games barely use bandwidth — they need low, STABLE latency. Jitter, packet loss and bufferbloat (ping spiking under load) cause lag on gigabit connections. Test those, not just Mbps.
Under 30 ms feels instant, under 60 is competitive-fine, and above 100 you're noticeably behind the server. Jitter matters as much: a stable 50 ms beats a 20 ms that spikes to 150.
Enable Smart Queue Management (SQM, fq_codel or CAKE — often under 'QoS') on your router and set it just below your line speed. It costs a few percent of throughput and removes the load-induced ping spikes.
