What aim training actually improves

Aim is three separable skills. Flicking — snapping from rest to a target — is what this drill measures; good players land flicks in 350–500 ms with 85%+ accuracy. Tracking — keeping the crosshair glued to a moving target — dominates in games with sustained-fire weapons. Target switching — chaining kills across the screen — combines both. Ten focused minutes a day beats an unfocused hour: fatigue teaches sloppy micro-corrections.

Hardware honesty: your time-to-hit includes your display and mouse latency, and your consistency depends on sensitivity. Most pros use a lower sensitivity than you'd guess — around 280–400 eDPI in tactical shooters — because a longer physical swipe is easier to stop precisely. Frequently asked questions

How long until aim training shows results?

Most players measurably improve within two weeks of short daily sessions. The early gains come from consistency — same sensitivity, same posture, same warm-up — rather than raw speed.

Should I train with my in-game sensitivity?

Yes. Aim is muscle memory for a specific cm-per-360; training on a different sensitivity builds the wrong memory. Set the trainer to feel identical to your main game.

Does a high-refresh monitor improve aim?

It genuinely helps: at 240 Hz the target's position is up to 12 ms fresher than at 60 Hz, and motion is easier to track. It won't fix mechanics, but it removes a handicap.
