Speed tests use Cloudflare's public endpoints (download) and your own server (upload).
The SSD test writes & reads a real file via the browser's sandboxed filesystem (OPFS), using several parallel streams to approximate a native queue depth. Peak is the best window; sustained is the whole-run average. Larger files give steadier, higher numbers — but 25–50 GB writes that much real data to your drive each run (it's deleted afterward), takes longer, and may hit the browser's storage quota. Read speeds are partly served from the OS cache.
CPU & GPU run as sustained stress tests for the duration you pick (or until you hit Stop). On laptops they will spin up fans, get hot, and drain battery — and on a long run a downward drift in the live trace is your hardware thermally throttling. Stop anytime with the Stop button.
